Krauze met Andriessen back in the 60’s, when he won the International Gaudeamus Competition for Performers of Contemporary Music in Utrecht in 1966. One of the pieces he performed was by the aforementioned Dutch composer. In order to clarify that his performance is in harmony with its author’s intentions, Krauze  arranged a meeting with Andriessen. That day the friendship between these two renowned composers was established and lasts ever since.
