Pierre Boulez / Sur Incises

Sur Incises

Sur Incises for 3 pianos, 3 harps, and 3 percussion groups

Pierre Boulez wrote two related works, Incises (1993-2001) and Sur incises (1996-1998), the first work was a specially written for a piano competition and the second one, Sur incises, is dedicated to Paul Sacher, who designed an hexacord on which the two works are based. Three harps, three pianos and three percussion groups are used here. Sometimes referred as an “organised delirium”, Sur incises is a virtuoso work, highly coloured and attractive to our listening.
